How important is the packaging design of the cosmetic products to you? Would you buy a cosmetic product if the design didn't look attractive?

How important is the packaging design

Quite important. Although the primary concern will always be the quality of the product. Because by the end of the day people do not care about how your compact powder casing looks like; the powder on your face is what's that counts.
It sure does comes in handy when the quality product comes with a good classy casing.
Eg: Chanel has the unmistakable elegant casing for all their eye shadow quarts, powder, blushes and lip glosses.
MAC has a good range of quality product, strong pigments with good packaging. Bonus points for the periodic seasonal ones that comes with even better designs.
While I am not a big fan of Guerlain products but they do look eye catching and unique in their own way.
Also DIOR has very fun and cute pendants for eye shadow and lip glosses.
YSL has the unmistakable gold packaging for all their mascaras, concealer pens and their lip glosses oozes glamour. So does Estee Lauder !!

There's so many products to choose from that if the packaging isn't attractive it can get igored easily. Must be bold and colorful

Packaging is so important. But the style of the product is important to. Designers also have to think of the shape of the bottle or tube. I'm always drawn to perfume bottles with interesting shapes and colors, even if they cost a bit more.
